The DEC program provides services for children found in dangerous drug related environments throughout the state of Colorado.

When children are removed from a methamphetamine lab for example, they must leave their personal possessions behind. During the manufacturing process all of their clothing and belongings become contaminated with toxic chemical or methamphetamine residue.

The DEC program provides these children with a duffle bag or a backpack, a set of clothes, a pair of shoes, a toy or stuffed animal, a blanket, a toothbrush and toothpaste. Each bag/pack is sealed and contains new items that are both age and gender appropriate. The program is grateful for donations of new:

  • Duffle bags or backpacks
  • Clothing/shoes for ages infant to 13 years old
  • Toys and stuffed animals
  • Jackets, coats and blankets
  • Toiletries—toothbrushes, toothpaste, brushes, and combs
  • Funds or gift cards to purchase the items above

The program has one decontamination trailer where children can shower in private, be provided with a healthy snack, and watch a movie, or play while they wait. The program is also grateful for donations for the trailer:

  • Children’s movies—DVD or VHS
  • Music, books, coloring books, and crayons
  • Games and toys
  • Healthy snacks, Juice, bottled water, baby formula
  • Baby food, diapers, baby wipes, baby powder, and baby lotion
  • Calling cards for children who have family out of state
  • Essentials for the truck and trailer
    • Gas coupons, food coupons
    • Towels, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion)
    • Blankets, pillows, and bedding
    • Office supplies
  • Funding to purchase additional trailers, vehicles to pull them and supplies

Donations are tax deductible and all proceeds are used to meet the needs of drug endangered children throughout the state of Colorado.
